New winners

Blue Point (pictured above) – Dark Points (2 c ex Dark Rose Angel by Dark Angel) became the 11th individual winner for Darley shuttler Blue Point (Shamardal) when he landed a six-furlong contest at Ayr.. Bred and raced by Hussain Alabbas Lootah, Dark Points is the first foal out of the Group-placed winning Dark Angel (Acclamation) mare Dark Rose Angel. Noo Point (2 c ex March by Dutch Art) made all the running in a Chepstow maiden over six furlongs to provide Blue Point (Shamardal) with his 11th individual winner. A £130,000 Goffs sale breeze-up buy, Noo Point is the third foal out of the Group-placed winning mare March (Dutch Art). Blue Point continued his terrific start to his career at stud awhen he chalked up his 13th individual winner courtesy of Needlepoint’s (2 f ex Zenella by Kyllachy) victory on debut over 1100 metres at Chantilly.. Needlepoint was purchased for €62,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2022. The filly is out of the Listed-winning mare Zenella (Kyllachy), making her a half-brother to Listed winner Fox Power (Dark Angel). Blue Point, who has now had 44 starters, will again shuttle to Northwood Park where he will stand for a fee of AU$44,000 (inc GST) this season.  

Bolt D’Oro – Elderberry (2 f ex Essence Of Terror by Reward For Effort) became the fourth individual southern hemisphere winner from eight runners for former shuttler Bolt D’Oro (Medaglia D’Oro) when she broke her maiden at the third attempt in the 1100-metre plate at Moe. Elderberry is the only foal to race out of the multiple winning Reward For Effort (Exceed And Excel) mare Essence Of Terror. Bolt D’Oro stands at Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky for a fee of US$35,000 (approx. AU$51,360).

Magna Grecia – Ms Brightside (2 f ex Rope A Dope by Bungle Inthejungle) became the fourth individual winner for Coolmore Stud’s first-season sire Magna Grecia (Invincible Spirit) when making a winning debut over six furlongs at Fairyhouse. Ms Brightside is the first foal out of the winning mare Rope A Dope (Bungle Inthejungle). Rope A Dope is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Flaming Rabbit (Time Test) and Listed scorer Ross (Acclamation). Magna Grecia, who has now had 17 starters, stands at Coolmore Stud for a fee of €15,000 (approx. AU$23,930).

Performer – Mishani Star (2 f ex Mishani Nefertiti by Nothing To Lose) broke her maiden at the tenth attempt when she landed a two-year-old maiden over 1300 metres at Rockhampton and in the process handed her Waylon J Stud-based sire Performer (Exceed And Excel) with his fourth individual winner from 12 starters. Mishani Star is one of three winners out of the dual winner Mishani Nefertiti (Nothing To Lose). Having stood his first four seasons at Aquis Farm in Queensland, Performer was purchased by Waylon J Stud for $6,000 at the recent Magic Millions National Sale.

Showtime – Showdra (2 f ex Phaedra by Hussonet) became the fourth individual winner from 16 starters for Arrowfield’s first-season sire Showtime (Snitzel) when she made a winning debut in a Sunshine Coast handicap over 1400 metres. A $32,000 buy from the Arrowfield Stud draft at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Showdra is the the fifth of five winners out of the winning Hussonet (Mr. Prospector) mare Phaedra, making her a half-sister to, among others, Gold Coast stakes winner Dzsenifer (Scissor Kick). Showtime will stand the 2023 breeding season for a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).

Sioux Nation – Former Swettenham Stud shuttler Sioux Nation (Scat Daddy) chalked up his third individual southern hemisphere-bred winner from seven starters when Simple Times (2 g ex Pura Vida by Dane Shadow) landed the Donald 2YO Classic (1200m). Simple Times was purchased for $60,000 from the Noorilim Park draft at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. The gelding is out of dual winner Pura Vida (Dane Shadow), a half-sister to Group 2 winner Lady Lynette (Ladoni). Sioux Nation shuttled to Coolmore’s Australia base for one season in 2019 and now stands at the operation’s Irish base for a fee of €17,500 (approx. AU$27,915).

Stratosphere – Greatham Boy (2 g ex In Harmony by Exceed And Excel) became the sixth individual winner from 16 starters for Grenville Stud stallion Stratosphere (Snitzel) when making a winning debut in a 1100-metre maiden at Kranji. A $125,000 purchase at last year’s Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, Greatham Boy is a half-brother to Singapore’s Merlion Trophy (Listed, 1200m) winner Celavi (Fighting Sun). Stratosphere will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of $7,700 (inc GST).

The Autumn Sun – Tutta La Vita (2 f ex Negotiate by Red Ransom) won over 1400 metres at Rosehill, handing Arrowfield Stud’s first-season sire The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice) with his fourth individual winner from 21 starters. Purchased for $300,000 at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Tutta La Vita is out of unraced mare Negotiate (Red Ransom), making her a three-quarter sister to Group 1 winner Secret Agenda (Not A Single Doubt) and stakes-placed duo Stellar Pauline (Not A Single Doubt) and Sweetner (Snitzel), while she also counts stakes-placed gelding Donandkim (Smart Missile). Further back, this is the same family as Group 3-winning juvenile Enthaar (Written Tycoon) and Group 1 winner Euphoria (Marauding), the dam of Listed winner Fleet (Dehere). The Autumn Sun will stand the upcoming for an unchanged fee of $66,000 (inc GST).

Too Darn Hot – Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (Dubawi), added a third individual winner to his tally when Alyanaabi (2 c Alyamaama by Kitten’s Joy) made a winning debut over six furlongs at Salisbury. Bred and owned by Shadwell, the colt is out of unraced mare Alyanaabi (Kitten’s Joy), a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Ghanaati (Giant’s Causeway), who in turn produced Group 2 winner Mutasaabeq (Invincible Spirit) and Group 3 scorer Wafy (Dubawi). Further back this is the same family as 2019 Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) winner Shraaoh (Sea The Stars) and Australian Group 2 winner Raheen House (Sea The Stars). Too Darn Hot, who has now had 11 starters, will stand his fourth season at Darley’s Kelvinside base in New South Wales for an unchanged fee of $44,000 (inc GST).

Trapeze Artist – Griff (2 c ex Chateau Griffo, by Sebring) got off the mark at the third time of asking when he landed a maiden over 1200 metres at Warwick Farm and in the process handed Widden Stud-based first-season sire Trapeze Artist (Snitzel) with his seventh individual winner from 28 starters. Purchased for $80,000 from the Widden Stud draft at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in 2022, Griff is out of Group 3-placed Chateau Griffo (Sebring) who is also the dam of three-time winner Social Conscience (Capitalist). Trapeze Artist will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of $55,000 (inc GST).

New stakes winners

Al Maher – Recently pensioned sire Al Maher (Danehill) was handed his 37th individual stakes winner from 764 starters when Chassis (6 m ex Poco Gusto by Hussonet) landed the Gai Waterhouse Classic (Listed, 1200m) at Ipswich. Chassis was passed in at the Magic Millions National Sale last year, but when she was offered at the sale for the second time last month she was purchased for $230,000. The six-year-old is out of three time-winning Hussonet (Mr. Prospector) mare Poco Gusto, making him a half-brother to Listed-placed winner Indernile (Street Boss). Al Maher stood at Stockwell Thoroughbreds and, after covering only three mares in 2022, was pensioned earlier this year.

Arrogate – Petulante (4 c ex Auntjenn by Uncle Mo) became the ninth individual stakes winner for the ill-fated Arrogate (Unbridled’s Song) when landing the Salvator Mile Stakes (Gr 3, 8f) at Monmouth Park. Purchased for US$80,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2020, Petulante is the second and only foal to race out of the Grade 2-placed winning Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) mare Auntjenn. Arrogate, who has now had 144 starters, died in 2020.

Dansili – The late Dansili’s (Danehill) tally of individual stakes winners moved to 153 when Chichester (6 g ex Havant by Halling) landed the Ganton Stakes (Listed, 1m) at York. Originally raced by Cheveley Park Stud, Chichester was picked up by current connections for 30,000gns at the Tattersalls Horses In Training sale in 2020. Dansili has now had 1,262 starters.

Galiway – Rubis Vendome (3 c ex Classe Vendome by Kendargent) became the 13th individual stakes winner for Galiway (Galileo) when producing an upset in the Prix du Lys (Gr 3, 2400m) at Chantilly. Rubis Vendome is the only winning foal from five to come out of the winning Kendargent (Kendor) mare Classe Vendome. Galiway, who has now had 130 starters, stood the 2023 northern hemisphere breeding season at Haras de Colleville for a fee of €30,000 (approx. AU$47,850).

I Am Invincible – Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) sired his maiden stakes winner in Europe when Lady Hamana (3 f ex Lake Hamana by Shamardal) scored in the Scurry Stakes (Listed, 5f) at Sandown. Foaled in Australia and exported to the UK in June 2022, Lady Hamana is the second foal out of the unraced Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway) mare Lake Hamana, herself a half-sister to Group 1 winner Sobetsu (Dubawi) out of the Listed-winning mare Lake Toya (Darshaan). I Am Invincible, who has now had 1,033 starters, will command a record fee of $302,500 (inc GST) this upcoming southern hemisphere breeding season.

Jakkalberry – Regal Lion (4 g ex Red Delight by Congrats) showed tenacity in spades to win the Ipswich Cup (Listed, 2150m), providing the late Novara Park Stud stallion Jakkalberry (Storming Home) with his fifth stakes winner from 131 runners. Regal Lion is out of Red Delight (Congrats) and hails from the same family as Group 1 winner Danglissa (Danzero), the grandam of Listed winner and now Kingstar Farm-based sire Unite And Conquer (Hinchinbrook), Group 3 scorer Sweet Redemption (Snitzel) and stakes winner Euryale (Lonhro). Further back, Listed winner and Newgate Farm-based inmate Profiteer (Capitalist) also features on the page. Jakkalberry died in 2018.

Justify – Coolmore Stud shuttler Justify (Scat Daddy) sired his 12th individual stakes winner when Ramatuelle (2 f ex Raven’s Lady by Raven’s Pass) broke the track record in winning the Prix du Bois (Gr 3, 1200m) at Chantilly. Ridden by Aurelien Lemaitre, the juvenile filly always travelled well and displayed a nice turn of foot to easily defeat runner-up Zorken (Goken) by a widening five lengths. Ramatuelle is the only foal to race from two out of the Group 2-winning Raven’s Pass (Elusive Quality) mare Raven’s Lady. Justify, who has now had 134 starters, will return to Jerrys Plains base for the upcoming southern hemisphere breeding season, where he will command a fee of $77,000 (inc GST).

Kingman – Crack Of Light (3 f ex Dawn Horizons by New Approach) completed a successful smash and grab raid on the Prix de Thiberville (Listed, 2400m) at Longchamp, providing Kingman (Invincible Spirit) with his 64th individual stakes winner in the process. Crack Of Light is the second foal out of Dawn Horizons (New Approach), herself a sister to the Listed-placed winner First In Line and a half-sister to Group 2 winner Frankly Darling (Frankel) and Listed scorer Our Obsession (Shamardal). Kingman, who has now had 551 starters, stands at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud for a fee of £125,000 (approx. AU$233,420).

Kitten’s Joy – Catnip (4 g ex Masquerade by Silent Name) produced a late rally to land the Monmouth Stakes (Gr 3, 9f) and provide the late Hill ‘N’ Dale Farms stallion Kitten’s Joy (El Prado) with a 116th individual stakes winner. Out of the stakes-placed winning mare Masquerade (Silent Name), Catnip is a half-brother to the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placegetter Princess Grace (Karakontie). Kitten’s Joy, who has now had 1,489 starters, died last year at the age of 21.

Lawman – Muhalif (3 c ex Macina by Platini) provided Lawman (Invincible Spirit) with a 38th individual stakes winner when landing the Grosser Preis der VGH Versicherungen (Listed, 1400m) at Hanover. Out of the Group 3-placed winning Platini (Surumu) mare Macina, Muhalif is a half-brother to Group 3 winner Tigah (Dalakhani) and the stakes-placed scorer Fat Choy Oohlala (Dr Fong) among others. Lawman, who has now had 846 starters, stands at Karwin Stud in France for a fee of €6,000 (approx. AU$9,570).

Oasis Dream – Empore (3 f ex Elora by Alkalde) landed the Diana Trial (Listed, 2100m) at Dusseldorf, becoming the 135th individual stakes winner for Oasis Dream (Green Desert). The ninth foal out of the winning Alkalde (Konigsstuhl) mare Elora, herself a half-sister to German Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) scorer Enora (Noverre), Empore is closely related to Listed-placed winner Elora Princess (Desert Prince) and a half-sister to five other winners, including Listed scorer Enissa (Soldier Hollow) and Group-placed winner El Loco (Lope De Vega). Oasis Dream, who has now had 1,478 starters, stands at Banstead Manor Stud for a fee of £20,000 (approx. AU$37,320).

Rulership – Big Ribbon (5 m ex Blitz Finale by Deep Impact) became the 27th individual stakes winner for Shadai Stallion Station resident Rulership (King Kamehameha) when landing the Mermaid Stakes (Gr 3, 2000m) at Hanshin. The fourth foal out of the unraced Deep Impact (Sunday Silence) mare Blitz Finale, herself a sister to Grade 3 winner Greater London, closely related to Japanese Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Daiwa El Cielo (Sunday Silence) and a half-sister to stakes winner Big Planet (Brian’s Time), Big Ribbon is a sister to Grade 1 winner Kiseki. Rulership, who has now had 927 starters, stands for a fee of ¥3,500,000 (approx. AU$35,810).

Sioux Nation – Ocean Jewel (3 f ex Many Colours by Green Desert) became the eighth individual stakes winner for Sioux Nation when she got the better of her elders in the Ballycorus Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Leopardstown. A €230,000 yearling buy, Ocean Jewel is the eighth foal out of the Listed-winning mare Many Colours (Green Desert), making her a half-sister to four winners, including English 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) scorer Mother Earth (Zoffany). Sioux Nation has now had 141 starters.

Universal Ruler – Scenic Lodge Stud resident Universal Ruler (Scenic) sired his tenth individual stakes winner from 254 runners when Rusty Dreams (3 f ex She Done Him Wrong by Oratorio) landed the Belmont Guineas (Listed, 1600m). The filly is out of unraced mare She Done Him Wrong (Oratorio), a half-sister to Listed-placed gelding Rusty Peaches (Danehill Express). Universal Ruler will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of $8,250 (inc GST).

Zoustar – Widden Stud’s Zoustar (Northern Meteor) sired his 37th individual stakes winner when Zoumon (4 g ex Monblue by Monsun) landed the WJ McKell Cup (Listed, 2000m) at Rosehill. The four-year-old is out of the British-bred mare Monblue (Monsun), a multiple Italian Listed-winning daughter of German dual stakes winner Salonblue (Bluebird), who is also the dam of German Listed scorer Salonlove (Lawman). Zoustar, who has now had 677 starters, will stand the 2023 breeding season for an increased fee of $220,000 (inc GST).
