Too Darn Hot sires first Group 1 winner
Darley’s first-season shuttle stallion Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) enjoyed a red-letter day when he registered his first Group 1 winner courtesy of Fallen Angel’s (2 f ex Agnes Stewart by Lawman) victory in the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) at the Curragh yesterday.
The Karl Burke-trained filly gave the stallion his first winner when she broke her maiden at Haydock in May, before handing him his first stakes winner when she landed the Sweet Solera Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) at Newmarket last month.
She provided the stallion with another memorable result yesterday when she defeated Vespertilio (Night Of Thunder) by a length and a quarter, with Ornellaia (Night Of Thunder) and Porta Fortuna (Caravaggio) dead-heating for third, finishing five and a half lengths away from the winner.
Raced by Clipper Logistics and bred by Branton Court Stud, Fallen Angel is out of the Group 2-winning and Group 1-placed mare Agnes Stewart (Lawman), herself a half-sister to Listed winner Sorrel (Dansili).
Too Darn Hot will be represented by his first southern hemisphere-bred runners this season. The stallion is standing at Darley’s Kelvinside base for an unchanged fee of $44,000 (inc GST).
