Addictive Nature followed good recent barrier trial wins at Rosehill and Randwick with an impressive debut at Warwick Farm. After breaking well from barrier five under Tim Clark, he raced close to the pace in a strongly contested race, before going clear at the 200 metres to score by a length and a quarter in a winning time of 1:03.66.
Purchased for NZ$775,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale in 2016, the colt is out of the unraced mare Generous Nature (Carnegie) and of her five foals to race three have been winners, including Group Two winner Savvy Nature (Savabeel) and Hostwin Challenge (Testa Rossa), who is Listed-placed in Macau.
Generous Nature is out of the Listed winner La Lagune (Danehill), making her a half-sister to Halloween (Encosta De Lago), who produced Group Three Hasahalo (Savabeel).
Further back Addictive Nature is from the same family as Group One winner Titanic Jack (Encosta De Lago) and Sober Suit (Noalcoholic).
Generous Nature has produced a rising two-year-old filly by Sebring (More Than Ready), and in 2016 she missed to Per Incanto (Street Cry), who she was served by again last spring.
