Alizee (AUS)

T: James Cummings
O: Godolphin
B: Darley
W: 3YO Fillies’ Maiden, 1100m, Warwick Farm, 2 August
The progressive Alizee, who had shown promise in stakes races at her last two runs as a juvenile, broke through for her first win in four starts with a very smart, first up effort over 1100 metres at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
She settled in sixth place in the hands of Glyn Schofield before sweeping around the field at the home turn. She then came with a strong run, hit the front at the 50 metres and went on to score by three quarters of a length, seemingly with plenty in hand.
Alizee is one of five named foals out of the winning mare Essaouira (Exceed And Excel) making her a half-sister to three winners, including the Golden Rose Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner and now Darley stallion Astern (Medaglia d’Oro) as well as the Group Three-placed Mogador (Lonhro).
Her second dam Alizes (Rory’s Jester) won the 2004 Magic Night Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m), while her third dam is the 1998 The Galaxy (Gr 1, 1100m) winner La Baraka (Euclase).
Alizee’s fourth dam is the champion mare Triscay (Marscay), who won five times at Group One level during her racing career, while this is also the family of Group Two winner Tsuimai (Thunder Gulch) and stakes winners Readyor (More Than Ready) and Agister (Mossman).
