Beau Geste (AUS)
O: Godolphin
B: Darley
T: Darren Beadman
W: Casino Prince@vinery Maiden Handicap, 2yo, 1100m, Canterbury, 24 May
Beau Geste scored an impressive two length debut victory over 1100 metres. The colt jumped from barrier one in the seven-horse field under Brenton Avdulla and settled nicely in third place on the rails. He took a moment to wind up on turning for home before he finished off strongly, posting a strong win in a time of 1:05.87 on the Soft 6 track.
Beau Geste is the second foal and first winner out of the dual winning Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Haut Ton, with her first foal, Mondain (Street Cry), being an unraced three-year-old gelding.
Haut Ton is out of the Canterbury Guineas (Gr 1, 1900m) winner Fine Society (Marscay), making her a half-sister to five winners including the Group-placed Define (Lonhro). Beau Geste’s third dam is Early Song (Precocious), a winner in Europe and the dam of five winners including the South African Grade Two winner Silverpoint (Woodman). Further back this is the family of Group One-winning sire Grand Lodge (Chief’s Crown) as well as Court (Anabaa) who produced the 2016 All Aged Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) winner English (Encosta De Lago).
After producing Beau Geste, Haut Ton missed to Lonhro (Octagonal) before producing a filly by Lonhro last year. She was then covered by Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) last November.
