Bruckner
3 c Snitzel – Jestajingle by Lonhro
Trainer: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace
Race: HDF McNeil Stakes (Group 3, 1200m)
Some big hitters are present in the ownership of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) colt Bruckner, including Widden Stud, Rifa Mustang and Tony Fung, in whose ‘aqua’ silks the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained colt races.
Bruckner topped the 2020 Inglis Melbourne Premier sale when Fung parted ways with $725,000 to secure the colt out of the Blue Gum Farm draft, and showed promise on debut when running third in the Black Opal Preview (1000m) at Canberra, finishing behind subsequent Reisling Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) winner Glistening (Zoustar).
Well beaten in the Pago Pago Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) in an attempt to make the Golden Slipper (Gr 1, 1200m) field, Bruckner returned on the first day of the new season to take a 1200-metre Kembla Grange maiden, defeating Head Legislator (Headwater) by a neck, as the pair drew clear of the remainder.
Thrown back into stakes company, the training duo clearly have high hopes for the pricey yearling to fulfill his potential, but he takes on a stellar field in the HDF McNeil Stakes (Group 3, 1200m) at Caulfield today, including Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Artorius (Flying Artie), VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) winner Lightsaber (Zoustar), and last-start Vain Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) runner-up General Beau (Brazen Beau).
Bruckner is the first foal out of WA winner Jestajingle (Lonhro), herself a half-sister to the Vain Stakes-winning, Ciaron Maher-trainee Jukebox (Snitzel) and daughter of WA Gimcrack Stakes (Listed, 1100m) winner Jestatune (Rory’s Jester).
The dam has a two-year-old Street Boss (Street Cry) colt named Triple Jay in training with Daniel and Ben Pearce.
