Comin’ Through
O: Go Bloodstock
B: Go Bloodstock
T: Chris Waller
W: Ranvet’s Salkavite Maiden Handicap, 1400m, Warwick Farm, 14 September
Comin’ Through (Fastnet Rock) won well on debut at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. Ridden by Jason Collett, Comin’ Through broke from the inside barrier and settled back towards the rear of the 11-runner field. He began to improve along the rails from the 600 metres and then took the lead with 100 metres left to run. Despite showing greenness, he scored a long-neck victory in a time of 1:24.20 on the Soft5 track.
Comin’ Through is a half-brother to multiple Group One winner Criterion (Sebring) and he becomes the eighth winner from as many foals to race for his Group Three-winning dam Mica’s Pride (Bite The Bullet). In addition to Criterion, Comin’ Through’s half-relations include the Group Two winner Varenna Miss (Redoute’s Choice) and Listed winner Silently (Anabaa), herself the dam of the South African Group winner Muwaary (O’Reilly). Comin’ Through second dam is Gainesville (Afleet), with this being the family of stakes winners Bull Point (Fastnet Rock) and Upon This Rock (Fastnet Rock).
Mica’s Pride missed to Sebring (More Than Ready) last year having produced another colt by Fastnet Rock (Danehill) in December. Her Pierro (Lonhro) colt was purchased by Astute Bloodstock for $750,000 at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
