Day Three – All Horses Out For Exercise
The Jane Chapple Hyam-trained Cox Plate (Gr 1, 2040m) nominee Kaspersky (Footstepsinthesand) was seen for the first time since entering quarantine, after being hand walked round the facility on Friday, having recently run second in the Mile Stakes (Gr 3, 1m) at Haydock on 9 September, and he looked in good condition.
Walking on the heath together were the Hugo Palmer-trained Wall Of Fire (Canford Cliffs), French raider Tiberian (Tiberius Caesar) and Marmelo (Duke Of Marmalade), who all hold nominations for the Melbourne Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) and they were joined by Mask Of Time (Holy Roman Emperor).
The quartet all looked in good spirits when the gently cantered up Warren Hill.
International Racehorse Transport’s managing director Jim Paltridge told ANZ Bloodstock News yesterday afternoon: “They all cantered on Side Hill and Warren Hill, before their rest day tomorrow, where they will be hand walked inside quarantine and given a pick of grass, and hopefully the weather might be a little better for them than it was today (yesterday).
“Everyone seems to be happy with the way it is going so far. All the horses have settled in well, a bit like they have been there forever, which is great.”
