Dracarys scored a very good debut win in a race run in heavy rain on a Heavy 9 rated track at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. He broke from barrier seven and was settled in fifth place by Corey Brown. He raced wide with cover in the early part of the race and went deepest of all at the home run. Inside the final 100 metres he drew away to beat Brook Magic (Hinchinbrook) by one and a quarter lengths in a time of 1:00.17.
The colt is out of the dual Listed-winning Elusive Quality (Gone West) mare Nocturnelle and his second dam is the Group Three-winning mare Dama De Noche (Snippets), making her a half-sister to the Group Three-placed mare Seduced (Encosta De Lago) and the Listed-placed Catch Your Eyes (Encosta De Lago).
Further back Dracarys is from the same family of Group Three winner Martha Stevens (Super Concorde), who is the dam of Group One winner Etcher (Pour Henri) and Canadian Group One winner Relaxed Gesture (Indian Ridge). This is also the family of the multiple Group One winner Buffering (Mossman).
Dracarys is Nocturnelle’s first foal. She has a yearling filly by Redoute’s Choice (Danehill), slipped to that same stallion in 2015 before being covered again by Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) last November.
