Encap’s dam to be offered in bespoke Inglis Digital auction
Top-class producer Enquare (Stratum), the dam of this season’s Ming Dynasty (Gr 3, 1400m) winner and Golden Rose (Gr 1, 1400m) runner-up Encap (Capitalist), will be offered in a standalone Inglis Digital sale next week.
The 13-year-old mare is being offered carrying an early pregnancy to Capitalist (Written Tycoon), making the resultant foal a sibling to Encap whose trainer Gary Portelli described the $200,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale purchase as being in the “top echelon of three-year-olds’’.
“He was a speedy type early on and trained into a beautiful horse. He’s a horse that raced at two, was a great horse – almost a champion at three – and we’re hoping he can build on his Group 1 performances next campaign,” Portelli said.
“If you look closely at the form of the Golden Rose, Shinzo, who ran third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and won the Golden Slipper, was behind him, couldn’t keep up with us, the form behind us was very strong.
“As far as improvement goes, I’ve never seen a horse improve like this horse. I don’t know where his ceiling is, I think he’s in for a massive autumn carnival.
“He’s sound, has plenty of longevity and is a beautifully natured horse and I’m sure there’s plenty of upside to this pedigree going forward.’’
Inglis Digital business manager Nick Melmeth said: “Mares of this quality carrying siblings to genuine Group 1 performers like Encap very rarely come onto the market.
“A purchase of a mare like this, given her age, has the capacity to serve a number of purposes to a buyer and the scope for upside is significant.”
Out of the dual Group 3-winner Skewiff (Mookta), Enquare won five of her 25 starts, including the 2013 edition of the Vo Rogue Plate (Gr 3, 1350m) as well as a pair of Listed victories.
Melmeth continued: “Enquare was a very good racemare in her own right, she was very quick and her form was strong.”
The Enquare Standalone Sale will go live on inglisdigital.com this afternoon.
Bidding will open at 9am Monday (November 27) and the final countdown of bidding will begin from 4pm on Tuesday (November 28).
