Exhilarates (AUS) 2 f Snitzel – Samaready by More Than Ready
Godolphin-raced filly Exhilarates (Snitzel) announced herself as a major contender for tomorrow’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) with an impressive maiden victory at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Wearing blinkers for the first time, the James Cummings-trained juvenile settled well under Kerrin McEvoy and moved up smartly on turning for home, before going on to score comfortably by almost two lengths.
The filly was having her fourth racecourse outing having followed up her fifth placed-finish on debut at Rosehill with two runner-up efforts, and will go into tomorrow’s lucrative contest with the advantage of proven track form.
Exhilarates was a $600,000 purchase by Godolphin from the Vinery Stud draft at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, a transaction that signalled the operation’s return to the top end of the Australian yearling market.
She is the first named foal out of dual Group 1 winner Samaready (More Than Ready), who was trained by Mick Price to win the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) in 2012. Samaready is a half-sister to Group 2 winner Night War (General Nediym) and the stakes-placed Samartested (Testa Rossa) from the family of Group 1 winners Almalad (Al Maher) and County Tyrone (Danewin).
The son of Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) has a yearling half-brother by Vinery Stud-based stallion All Too Hard (Casino Prince) and was covered by Yarraman Park Stud’s I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) on November 20 last year.
