The Chris Waller-trained debutant Extremely Hardys (Extreme Choice) looks set for bigger and better things after she produced an emphatic display to break the ice in a 1200-metre maiden at Canterbury on Wednesday.

Ridden by Tim Clark, the juvenile daughter of Extreme Choice (Not A Single Doubt), who had won and run second in two of her four trials prior to Wednesday’s contest, bounced out on the lead and romped home by a six-length margin over Godolphin homebred Cinsault (Brazen Beau).

“She was brilliant, a Timmy Clark special,” stable representative Charlie Duckworth said. “She obviously gets through the wet and has a nice future.”

Bred by Kingstar Farm, Extremely Hardys was a $300,000 buy for Guy Mulcaster and Waller from the Newgate Farm draft at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Out of winning mare Killcareless (More Than Ready), Extremely Hardys is a half-sister to the stakes-placed three-time winner Remorseless (Written Tycoon)

Killcareless was bought by James Harron for $290,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and was purchased by Gleeson Thoroughbreds for $6,000 on the Inglis Digital Early Online Sale in May this year.

Extremely Hardys’ Cosmic Force (Deep Field) half-sister was purchased by BK Racing & Breeding and Vassallo Racing Management for $100,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year.

With Wednesday’s victory, Extremely Hardys became the third juvenile winner of the season for Extreme Choice, who will stand the upcoming breeding season at Newgate Farm for a fee of $275,000 (inc GST).
