Having his second start since finishing unplaced in a maiden over 1300 metres at Warwick Farm on 1 June, France jumped well from barrier five and settled nicely in third. Ridden by Glyn Schofield, France moved up to challenge shortly after turning for home. After a battle in the straight, the son of Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) scored a narrow but good win over the stakes-placed El Venetian (Moshe) with a further break of a length and a quarter back to the third-placed horse.
France is the second living foal out of Miss Marielle whose first foal is the Group One-winning filly Peeping (Redoute’s Choice). A dual Group winner, Miss Marielle is herself a daughter of the WATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Miss Vandal (Don’t Say Halo) whose five winners include the young Newgate Farm-based sire Eurozone (Northern Meteor). France’s third dam is the unplaced Zabatac (Zabaleta), the dam of five winners headed by Miss Vandal and fellow stakes winner Krystal Storm (Metal Storm).
Miss Marielle’s two-year-old is called Armed And Ready (More Than Ready). She has a two-year-old colt by Sebring (More Than Ready) and a weanling filly by Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado).
