Freeze Over (AUS)
O: Hesket Bloodstock (Mgr: D J Moodie)
B: Hesket Bloodstock
T: John Sadler
W: Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap, 1000m, Sandown Hillside, 29 March
Freeze Over broke well from barrier nine of 14, showed good early pace and soon went to the front under Damian Lane. She travelled well, and despite some early pressure, she was able to grab a good break at the 200 metre mark and then raced away to score easily by three and half lengths in a time of 56.00.
The filly is the first foal out of Group Three winner Big Chill (Artie Schiller), herself a half-sister to Listed winners Hard Stride (Street Sense) and Utah Saints (God’s Own).
Further back the filly is from the same family as Group One winners Hello Dolly (Mi Preferido), who won the 2001 Captain Cook Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) at Trentham and Art Success (Pentire), who took out the Brisbane Cup (Gr 1, 3200m) in 2006.
Big Chill foaled a colt by Lope De Vega (Shamardal) in 2015, before producing a filly by Uncle Mo (Indian Charlie) in 2016 and was most recently served by Exceed And Excel (Danehill) again on 8 December last year.
