Group 1 winner Affaire A Suivre among latest stars added to Magic Millions National sale

The supplementary catalogue for the 2024 Magic Millions National Weanling and Broodmare Sales has been finalised with a further nine stakes performers among the latest confirmed entries and the latest additions are headed by Group 1 winner Affaire a Suivre (Astern).

Joining the likes of Imperatriz (I Am Invincible), Kristilli (Hellbent), Aitch Two Oh (Headwater), Lavish Girl (Xtravagant) and Malaboom (Spirit Of Boom), Affaire a Suivre will be offered as a breeding proposition by her owners First Light Racing, for whom she won three races, headed by her win in last year’s Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) at Morphettville.

The Port Adelaide Guineas (Listed, 1800m) also features on the daughter of Astern’s (Medaglia D’Oro) CV, with the filly having cruised home in the Listed contest,  the start before her Group 1 triumph.

Purchased by her trainers, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, owners First Light Racing and Paul Willetts for $75,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale in 2021, Affaire a Suivre is a half-sister to the stakes winner Laure Me In (Ad Valorem).

The four-year-old is out of Laurelling (Highest Honor), who is herself a sister to Group 1-winning sire Medaaly, while she counts Group 2 scorer Charnwood Forest (Warning) among her half-siblings.

Last Saturday’s brilliant Cummings Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) winner En Francais (Puissance De Lune) is also bound for the Gold Coast and will be offered as part of the Glenesk Thoroughbreds draft.

En Francais is out of Listed-placed mare Detox (Golden Snake), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Alcopop (Jeune).

Featured among the other supplementary entries for the sale is Flemington Listed winner Dolphin Skin (Telperion), who is being prepared for sale by Sullivan Bloodstock, while fellow stakes scorer Miss Ella (Iffraaj) will feature among the offerings from Yarraman Park.

This season’s Gimcrack Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) placegetter Repose (Russian Revolution) has been added to the Newgate Farm draft and she will be joined in consignment by Pure Paradise (Capitalist), a stakes-placed juvenile, won the final race at Morphettville on Goodwood Day last Saturday and stakes performers Authentic Jewel (I Am Invincible) and Call Di (Frankel)

Meanwhile, Excel D’Or (Exceed And Excel), who was placed at Group 3 level, will be offered for sale by Bhima Thoroughbreds.

A selection of covered by sires including Frankel (Galileo), Written Tycoon (Iglesia), Zoustar (Northern Meteor), Home Affairs (I Am Invincible), Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), Toronado (High Chaparral), Capitalist (Written Tycoon) and Justify (Scat Daddy) have also been added to the high-quality catalogue.

Offered by Coolmore Stud, Abyssinie (Danehill Dancer) will be sold carrying a full-sibling to the Listed winner Legacies (Justify), meanwhile Alma Vale and Kitchwin Hills Partnership will offer stakes-placed Mae West (Sir Percy), the dam of Listed scorer My Bella Mae, and she will be sold carrying a foal by Coolmore’s superstar stallion Wootton Bassett.

Multiple European Group 3 winner Delectation Girl (Delegator) has also been added to the catalogue and she will be offered Milburn Creek in foal to Zoustar (Northern Meteor), with her first foal by the Widden Stud stallion having been purchased by McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Damon Gabbedy’s Belmont Bloodstock for $400,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier this year.

Group-placed juvenile Baaqyah (I Am Invincible) also features among the supplementary entries for the sale. She will be offered by the Newgate consignment carrying a foal by their resident stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon).

Meanwhile, the National Weanling Sale has been boosted by six lots with youngsters by sires including Jonker (Spirit Of Boom), Satono Aladdin (Deep Impact), Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice) and Zousain (Zoustar) joining a catalogue packed full of quality.

“We can’t wait to welcome vendors, owners, prospective buyers and thoroughbred lovers to the Gold Coast for the National Sale,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.

“The line up across the seven selling days is outstanding – from weanlings to race fillies and broodmares to yearlings eligible to be paid up to the world’s richest sales based race series.

“The original catalogue was already world class and now the supplementary catalogue has taken it to another level. To have almost 200 stakes winning or placed lots in the National Broodmare Sale is phenomenal.”

To view the PDF supplementary catalogue click here or view the lots via the online catalogues or the Equineline Catalog App. The supplementary catalogue for the 2024 National Yearling Sale will be released in the coming days.
