Group winner Seradess to be offered on Magic Millions
Group 2-winning mare Seradess (Astern) will go under the hammer as an elite breeding prospect next in stand-alone Magic Millions Virtual Sale.
The daughter of Astern (Medaglia D’Oro) won five of her 19 starts and her victories were headed by a win in the Cinderella Stakes (Listed, 1050m), 2021 Scarborough Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) in 2021, while she added to her record when taking out the Proud Miss Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) and the Tobin Bronze Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) in 2022.
Earlier this year she was fifth in both the Robert Sangster Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) and The Goodwood (Gr 1, 1200m), finishing two-and-a-half-lengths and a length-and-three-quarters adrift of the winner respectively.
Trained by Mark and Levi Kavanagh, she retires with $531,320 in career prize-money earnings.
“She showed right from her first start she was a high–quality filly,” Mark Kavanagh said. “Her win in the Cinderella Stakes, at just her second start, was outstanding.
“As a three-year-old she trained on to be a Group 3 winner at Moonee Valley before a Group 2 and Group 3 in Adelaide. She was also close up in a couple of Group 1 races – she was a high–class racehorse.”
Mark Kavanagh purchased Seradess for $50,000 from the Mill Park Draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale in 2020.
Out of nine-time winner Obsidian Dragon (Hidden Dragon), Seradess is a half-sister to multiple stakes-placed filly Rose Quartz (Written Tycoon), who added further to her record last Saturday when she finished second in the Northwood Plume Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) at Caulfield.
“Seradess was a high–class galloper across her first–class career,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. “Hers is also a pedigree on the move, with the likes of Rose Quartz featuring across the Spring Carnival.”

Seradess will be offered virtually from the Gold Coast Sales Complex on Thursday, October 26 at 3pm (AEST). She will be offered by Clint Donovan.
