An impressive debut victory by Impavido, who broke from barrier seven and was settled in the rear of the 11-horse field by jockey Jay Ford. Approaching the home turn Impavido made his move, coming wide round the field from second last, showing a good turn of foot to pick off the leaders inside the final 100 metres, before drawing right away to score with his ears pricked. The winning margin at the line was three and a quarter lengths. A step up in trip and class look likely for this talented son of High Chaparral (Sadler’s Wells).
Impavido is the first foal out of the winning Zabeel (Sir Tristram) mare Assertion. His second dam is the winner Make Me Strong (Danehill), the dam of six winners headed by the stakes-placed Dreamer (More Than Ready) and the winner Megara (Encosta De Lago) who is the dam of the 2015 Newmarket Handicap (Listed, 1200m) winner Red Striker (Red Giant).
Impavido’s third dam is the winner Reinforce (Bates Motel) the dam of five winners and grandam of the dual Group One winner Atomic Force (Danehill Dancer).
In 2014 Assertion produced a filly by Medaglia d’Oro (El Prado), unraced now named Constitutional, in 2015 she foaled a colt by More Than Ready (Southern Halo) and she was served by Tavistock (Montjeu) in 2016.
