The well-bred three-year-old filly Impulsive followed her promising debut third in a Kembla Grange Maiden over 1300 metres on 7 November with a decisive victory under jockey Kerrin McEvoy.
The filly, who is raced by her breeder Fairway Thoroughbreds, began well from barrier four in the seven runner field and was pushed up along the rails to lead by her rider.
She got a break on straightening up for home before galloping on strongly to register a comfortable victory in a smart time, covering the last 600 metres in 34.16 seconds. She was a length and a quarter ahead of African Academy (Turffontein) at the line.
Impulsive is one of 16 foals out of the prolific broodmare Procrastinate (Jade Hunter), herself a Group Three winner and a half-sister to the dual Group Three winner Galapagos Girl (Dehere) and the Listed winner Kampaign (Kampala).
The twice-raced Impulsive is a half-sister to 11 winners, including multiple Grade One-winning former champion South African sprinter Laisserfaire (Danehill), who won five times at the highest level and went on to produce Grade Three placegetter Kwitizina (Captain Al).
Impulsive is also a half-sister to the dual Group Three winner A Time For Julia (Redoute’s Choice) and the stakes-winning trio of Time Thief (Redoute’s Choice), Foreplay (Danehill) and Personify (Galileo).
This is also the family of 2011 The Goodwood (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Lone Rock (Fastnet Rock), Group Two winner Centennial Park (Thorn Park) and South African Grade Two-winning two-year-old Zodiac Ruler (Zoffany).
