Inglis release quality Great Southern Sale catalogue

Weanlings by the likes of high-class stallions Frankel (Galileo), I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), Zoustar (Northern Meteor), Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha), Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), Toronado (High Chaparral) and Written Tycoon (Iglesia) headline the offering of foals at this year’s Inglis Great Southern Sale, for which the catalogue is now available online.

A total of 492 lots – 425 weanlings and 67 broodmares – have been finalised for the two-day sale, which will be held at Oaklands in Victoria on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14.

Of the catalogued lots, 95 per cent of the weanlings are either VOBIS Sires eligible or BOBS eligible.

The catalogue also features weanlings by leading proven sires such as Alabama Express (Redoute’s Choice), Pierata (Pierro), The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice), Satono Aladdin (Deep Impact), Street Boss (Street Cry), Lonhro (Octagonal), Too Darn Hot (Dubawi), Capitalist (Written Tycoon), Hellbent (I Am Invincible), Shamus Award (Snitzel), So You Think (High Chaparral), Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo), Dundeel (High Chaparral), Farnan (Not A Single Doubt), Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible), Hanseatic (Street Boss), Night Of Thunder (Dubawi), Russian Revolution (Snitzel), Earthlight (Shamardal), Harry Angel (Dark Angel), Zousain (Zoustar) etc.

There is also a selection of exciting first season sires represented like Aclaim (Acclamation), Acrobat (Fastnet Rock), Extreme Warrior (Extreme Choice), Home Affairs (I Am Invincible), Palace Pier (Kingman), Pinatubo (Shamardal), Portland Sky (Deep Field), Profiteer (Capitalist), St Mark’s Basilica (Siyouni), Stay Inside (Extreme Choice), Tiger Of Malay (Extreme Choice), Victor Ludorum (Shamardal), Wild Ruler (Snitzel), Wooded (Wootton Bassett) etc.

The Great Southern Sale provides buyers with their last chance of the live sales season on the Eastern seaboard to find a weanling to pinhook, a strong end user option or a broodmare in advance of the breeding season.

The sale has proven successful year after year and the auction’s roll of honour includes Group 1 winners Montefilia (Kermadec), Behemoth (All Too Hard), Sopressa (So You Think), Extra Brut (Domesday), Gytrash (Lope De Vega), On The Bubbles (Brazen Beau) and Lunar Fox (Foxwedge), to name a few graduates sourced at the sale.

The broodmare section of the sale features mares carry foals by stallions such as Alabama Express, Blue Point (Shamardal), Grunt (O’Reilly), Harry Angel, Jacquinot (Rubick), Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon), Pierata, Pierro (Lonhro), Pinatubo, Royal Meeting (Invincible Spirit), Shamus Award, Spirit of Boom, Tassort (Brazen Beau), The Autumn Sun, Toronado, Wootton Bassett, Zousain.

The broodmares will be offered on Friday, June 14 at the completion of the weanling session.

Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock manager James Price is confident the catalogue has all the right ingredients for buyers to enjoy both short-term and long-term success.

“The Great Southern Sale catalogue will again present a range of fantastic opportunities for buyers to invest at all levels of the market,’’ Price said.

“Having the likes of Burnewang North, Yulong, Blue Gum, Dorrington Farm, Gilgai, Rosemont, Noorilim, Springmount, Shadow Hill, Stonehouse, Crossley, Supreme Thoroughbreds, Three Bridges and Two Bays represented in the catalogue as vendors is fantastic and means that it is the strongest group of vendors for this sale that I can remember.

“There have been many great stories from the sale in recent years and some life changing results, so we are looking forward to another competitive renewal of the sale in June.

“The breeding stock market has begun strongly in Sydney with a record Australian Weanling Sale and plenty of great buying opportunities at the Australian Broodmare Sale and I have no doubt there are plenty of appealing opportunities in the Great Southern catalogue for buyers to capitalise on as well.’’

Supplementary entries for the Great Southern Sale are now open and will remain so until Wednesday, June 5. To view the Great Southern Sale catalogue click here.
