Jedastar (AUS) 2 f I Am Invincible – Devoirs by Dehere
The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Jedastar (I Am Invincible) made an impressive debut when winning at Flemington on Tuesday in a quick time of 57.76 seconds.
The juvenile was smartly away from barrier nine and showed good early pace to cross to the lead on the rails under Joe Bowditch. She then set a good tempo under slight restraint from her jockey and showed a smart change of gear at the 300 metre mark, before going on to score comfortably by just over two lengths at the line.
Jedastar is the fourth foal to race out of the Listed-winning Dehere (Deputy Minister) mare Devoirs and is a half-brother to the four time winner Edge Away (Hinchinbrook).
Devoir herself is half-sister to WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Debelattio (Smart Missile) out of the Flying Spur (Danehill) mare Velasco, a Group 2 winner in New Zealand who also finished third in the Ellerslie Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) as a juvenile.
Jedastar, a $250,000 purchase by his trainer at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale from the Yarraman Stud draft, also hails from the same family as WA Derby (Gr 2, 2400m) winner Redacre (Golden God).
