Juddmonte release European fees for 2025
Juddmonte unveiled their European roster and fees for 2025 on Monday, with breed-shaper Frankel (Galileo) set to stand for an unchanged fee of £350,000 (approx. AU$688,170).
The dual world champion racehorse and British and Irish champion sire is responsible for 23 individual black-type winners in the northern hemisphere so far this year, headed by Group 14 winners.
Among them are dual Group 1 winner Lake Victoria, who is unbeaten in four starts to date and tackles Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Gr 1, 8f) at Del Mar, dual Group scorer and wide-margin Chesham Stakes (Listec, 7f) winner Bedtime Story, plus Exactly, another wide-margin winner of the Killavullan Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) this month and twice placed at the highest level.
In the sales ring Frankel achieved a personal best with a 2024 yearling average of £760,240 (approx. AU$1.49 million) for 30 sold. Across all European yearling sales, he is the leading sire by average, as well as siring the highest-priced yearling of the year in the northern hemisphere and topping Tattersalls October and Goffs Orby Yearling sales.
Frankel’s son, English 2,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) and Dewhurst Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) winner Chaldean, received a warm welcome with 173 mares in his first book, including 99 black-type performers or producers.
Currently covering his first book of mares at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, he covered more Group winners, stakes winners and black-type performers than any other first-season sire in Britain and Ireland. The flashy chestnut will stand his second season for an unaltered £25,000 (approx. AU$49,160).
Kingman (Invincible Spirit) enjoyed another banner year, siring two new Classic winners in English 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) heroine Elmalka and Prix de Diane (Gr 1, 2100m) scorer Sparkling Plenty, as well as Prix de l’Opera (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Friendly Soul. Standing again for £125,000 (approx. AU$245,780), the son of Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) has sired 17 individual stakes winners and ten Group winners in the northern hemisphere so far this term.
Banstead Manor stalwart Oasis Dream (Green Desert) will remain unchanged at £15,000 (approx. AU$28,490), having concluded his 20th breeding season with an impressive 93 per cent fertility. Only Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) and Frankel have sired more Group 1 winners and Group winners of stallions still active in Britain and Ireland, while his 2024 haul included Vintage Stakes (Gr 2, 7f) scorer Aomori City.
The roster is completed by Bated Breath (Dansili), a Grade 1-winning sire who continues to operate at a rate of 59 per cent winners to runners, with notable two-year-old winners this year including Loch Tay, First Instinct and Hold A Dream. His fee has been set at £8,000 (approx. AU$15,730), down from £10,000 in 2024.
