Lavender Rose posts strong Rosehill trial

Four juvenile trials were conducted at Rosehill on Friday morning and the Bjorn Baker-trained Lavender Rose, an unraced filly by Russian Revolution (Snitzel), clocked the quickest two-year-old time of the morning when she covered 900 metres in 54.87 seconds.

Last sighted finishing second in a 740-metre Randwick trial, the filly defeated $1 million colt Federalist (I Am Invincible) by 1.3 lengths, with the Chris Waller-trained Riez Souvent (Lonhro) coming home a further 0.2 lengths away in third.

Lavender Rose was bought by her trainer for $300,000 at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and she is out of the unraced mare Flaming Rose (Pierro), who is herself a daughter of 2003 New Zealand Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Bramble Rose (Shinko King) and she is also the dam of Group 2 scorer Tangled (Snitzel) and Listed-winning pair Sebrose (Sebring) and Maules Creek (Redoute’s Choice).

The second-placed Federalist is the first foal out of three-time Group 1 winner turned $3.2 million broodmare Arcadia Queen (Pierro), and Arrowfield Stud will offer his brother as Lot 282 at this year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale next month.

In the previous heat, Lavender Rose’s unraced stablemate Outcast Ally (Pariah) showed her class when she scored a 1.7-length win over the Peter Snowden-trained Telling (Graff) in her 900-metre trial.

The opening trial of the morning was landed by the John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained Three Arrows (Hello Youmzain). The colt defeated the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Onmalone (Menari) by 0.6 lengths.

The unraced Three Arrows is out of New Zealand Group 3 winner Seven Schillings (O’Reilly), making him a half-sister to Emily Margaret (Pins) and the stakes-placed winner Heptagon (Jimmy Choux).

Chris Waller unearthed another potentially smart colt in the shape of Regulated Affair (Wootton Bassett) who won his 900-metre trial, defeating Curie (Anders) by 0.1 lengths with a further 0.7 lengths further back to Pleasure Queen (Trapeze Artist).

The son of Wootton Bassett was purchased by his trainer and owners Hermitage for $200,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale last year and he is out of five-time winning Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) mare Sei Stella, herself a sister to Listed winner Single Style, who in turn produced stakes winner Miss Hipstar (Star Turn).
