Maid Of Heaven (AUS) 3 f Smart Missile – St Therese by Dehere
Tim Clark settled the filly at the tail of the five-horse field, sending her deep round the home turn and came with a strong late bid to score an impressive half a length victory over Brillant Choice (Redoute’s Choice) in a winning time of 1:13.63.
An Arrowfield Stud homebred, Maid Of Heaven is a half-sister to Tattersall’s Cup (Gr 3, 2200m) winner Mirrasalo (Redoute’s Choice) and two other winners out of dual Listed-winning sprinter-miler St Therese (Dehere).
St Therese is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Planet Ruler (Kaoru Star), who won VRC Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) twice and a further three top-flight victories.
St Therese is also a half-sister to the Listed-winning juvenile Aroma (Turf Ruler), the dam of Pleasant Air (Danehill), while her other half-sibling, Moon Vision (Ahonoora), in turn produced fellow Listed winner Andrella (Dehere), a three-quarters sister to St Therese.
Maid Of Heaven could make a valuable broodmare in time, as her two unraced sisters Precious Moment (Charge Forward) and Little Flower (Redoute’s Choice) have both produced Listed winners in Western Australia.
St Therese also has a two-year-old colt by Arrowfield’s exciting young sire Dundeel (High Chaparral), who is called Castelvecchio and in training with Warwick Farm-based Richard Litt. The mare has a yearling colt by Panzer Division (Redoute’s Choice) and she was most recently covered by Scissor Kick (Redoute’s Choice).
Former Arrowfield Stud-based sire Smart Missile (Fastnet Rock) now stands at Twin Hills Stud for a fee of $13,200 (inc GST).
