Momentum Factor (AUS) (2 g The Factor – Angel’s Breath by Tale Of The Cat)

Momentum Factor followed his unlucky third in a similar grade at this track on 7 March to score in good style, his first win in four starts to date.

He was settled back in second last place by Jason Collett in the nine-horse field from barrier seven, improved along the inner nearing the home turn, got a split at the 200 metre mark and then finished well to score in a time of 1:04.27.

The two-year-old gelding is out of three-time winner Angel’s Breath (Tale Of The Cat), whose four foals to race have all been winners, including Listed scorer Terror Force (Al Maher).

The gelding’s third dam, She’s The Verdict (The Judge) produced Legal Agent (Spectacular Spy) and Miss Guilty (Kinski), the dam of Group One winner Mr Innocent (Mr Henrysee) and Listed winner Verdict Declared (Mr Henrysee).

Verdict Declared herself is the dam of Millie Fox Stakes (Gr 3, 1300m) winner A Country Girl (Singspiel).

The win also provided Newgate Farm shuttler The Factor (War Front) with his second winner in Australia. A dual Grade One winner during his racing career in America, The Factor stood for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) at Newgate Farm last year.
