Nakeeta Jane (AUS) 3 f So You Think – Lustre Lady by Flying Spur
The Mark Newnham-trained three-year-old settled in fifth place on the rails from her improved inside barrier (1), before making nice progress into third coming to the home turn.
The filly then showed a nice turn of foot and quickly took control at the 200 metre mark, before going on to score in very good style from the promising Godolphin-raced colt Ranier (Lonhro), who was a length and a half adrift at the line.
The daughter of So You Think (High Chaparral) is the fifth foal out of Group 2 placegetter Lustre Lady (Flying Spur), who has produced winners with all of her foals to date over distances ranging from 1400 metres to 1900 metres.
Lustre Lady herself is out of the winning mare Lucky Lady (Nashwan), making her a half-sister to Legaya (Shirley Heights), the dam of British Listed winner Legal Approach (Zafonic).
There is more impressive black type deeper into Nakeeta Jane’s pedigree, with the filly’s third and fourth dams, Jet Ski Lady (Vaguely Noble) and Bemissed (Nijinsky), both victorious at Group 1 level, including the former’s emphatic 10-length victory in the Epsom Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f).
In 2016 Lustre Lady slipped to Coolmore’s young sire Adelaide (Galileo), before producing a filly by the same sire, who died, in 2017. She was most recently covered by Pierro (Lonhro).
