New Friday ‘Super Session’ introduced for Gold Coast Yearling Sale

Magic Millions have announced a new format for the flagship Gold Coast Yearling Sale with a Friday evening session of selling to take place from next year.

To be held the eve of the Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday, January 10,  the ‘Super Session’ will replace the traditional Saturday night session for 2025 and complete Book 1 of the sale.

The allotment of yearlings traditionally offered following the raceday on the Saturday night will now be transferred to directly follow the regular Friday line-up, with the total session estimated to run through until approximately 8pm.

“We strongly believe these changes to the schedule will be of huge benefit to all involved in our flagship sale,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.

“The Gold Coast Yearling Sale has gone from strength to strength, year after year. Therefore, this is not a decision we have made lightly, knowing that the success of January is critical to the yearling sales calendar across Australasia.

“Our aim is to continually enhance the operations of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale and the overall experience for all our key stakeholders who actively attend the sale each year.

“The new Friday Super Session will provide the perfect prelude for the $14.5 million The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Raceday the following day with ten feature events at the Gold Coast Turf Club.

“With the addition of the new feature twilight meeting on Saturday 4 January, offering $6.05 million in prize-money, there will be a phenomenal $20.55 million over 20 races distributed to trainers, owners and jockeys across the two Saturdays book-ending the sale.”

The catalogue for the 2025 Gold Coast Yearling Sale will be released in November.
