New Hampshire
Trainer: Michael Moroney
Race: Chairman’s Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m), Caulfield
New Hampshire (I Am Invincible) will be out to prove his Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) credentials when he takes on the Chairman’s Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) at Caulfield today.
The Michael Moroney-trained colt has yet to be seen on the racetrack in either a race or public trial, and he will make his debut in the $200,000 Group 3 for two-year-olds where he is currently a $19 chance in the market behind $2.40 Godolphin-bred favourite Renosu (Exceed And Excel).
By Yarraman Park Stud stallion I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), New Hampshire was purchased for $600,000 out of the Baramul Stud draft by Paul Moroney Bloodstock and Michael Moroney at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The beautifully-bred colt is owned by several clients that also have a share in Moroney’s dual Group 1 winner Tofane (Ocean Park), including Hemisphere Management AFL player agent Anthony Panozzo.
“We’re looking at all the big races with him, Blue Diamond, (VRC) Sires, all the proper races,” Panozzo said.
“He’s pretty exciting I think, we don’t know how good he is until he gets to the races but everything he’s doing (track work and jumpouts) he’s doing with ease.
“Fingers crossed he can reproduce (race day) what he’s doing on the track.”
The sixth foal out of the Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Lipari, New Hampshire is a half-brother to the 2018 ATC Australian Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Levendi (Pierro) and Group 3 winners Wu Gok (Sebring) and Marcel From Madrid (Sepoy).
New Hampshire will be ridden by Jordan Childs after Mark Zahra opted to forgo his commitments this weekend to serve a suspension, therefore allowing him to ride Tofane in next weekend’s CF Orr Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m). The pair will jump from barrier ten in a field of nine runners, after the late scratching of the Matt Laurie-trained Bay Thirteen (Deep Field).
