Noire, who finished second on her first two career starts over 1200 metres at Canterbury and Newcastle, broke well from barrier five under Kerrin McEvoy and he settled the filly in settled in fifth place in the seven-horse field (one off the rails). She was switched out rounding the home turn and showed an impressive turn of foot to hit the front at the 100 metre mark to go on to score by three quarters of a length in a time of 1:05.15.

The daugher of Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) is out of the Woodman (Mr. Prospector) winning mare Valadon, making her a half-sister to the Listed-placed to trio Global Dream (Fastnet Rock), Maraatib (Redoute’s Choice) and Valoura (Exceed And Excel).

Valadon herself is out of the dual Listed winner Valourina (Snippets) and is a half-sister to the Group Two winners Timbourina (Timber County) and Media (Gilded Time), who were both Group One-placed, and Listed winner Cardinal Virtue (Elusive Quality).

While further back she is from the same family as Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Bravery (Zephyr Zip) and Group Two winner Brave Prince (Kenmare).

In 2014 Valadon produced a colt by Coolmore’s Fastnet Rock (Danehill), who was sold at last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $160,000, and a has a yearling colt by Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) who was purchased by David Ellis at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $560,000. She produced a filly by Fastnet Rock in 2016 and died earlier this month.
