Talented two-year-old filly O’ Ole (Ole Kirk) cemented herself as a strong chance for January’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1200m) when she registered a record-breaking win in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (RL, 1100m) on Wednesday.

The filly by Vinery Stud’s first-season sire Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) finished second on debut, 1.4 lengths behind winner Bel Merci (Extreme Choice), in the Gimcrack Stakes (Gr 3, 1000m) on October 5, then finished fifth in the Golden Gift (1100m) a month later.

Trained by Bjorn Baker, O’ Ole started a $5.50 third-elect under Jason Collett, and jumped well from barrier three to settle in a forward position before showing an electrifying turn of foot at the top of the straight, drawing clear at the 200-metre mark to defeat Peter Snowden’s fast-finishing colt Memo (Capitalist) by 0.42 lengths, with fellow Baker-trained Horseshoe Hill (All Too Hard) a further length away in third

“She took plenty of improvement out of her last start,” Baker’s Racing Manager Luke Hilton said. “She paraded well today. Drawing a [good] gate today [three] made a big difference. Jason didn’t have to push or pull. He could just land where he wanted to.

“She’s a lovely filly and she deserves her place in the Millions. We’ve got her there now – we just have to hold her together. It will be a good week there [on the Gold Coast] in January.”

Bred and sold by Gilgai Farm, O’ Ole was the third most-expensive yearling by her sire at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when selling to her trainer, Bjorn Baker and Clarke Bloodstock for $325,000.

She is the fourth foal to race and fourth winner out of dual-winning Sepoy (Elusive Quality) mare Vellor, who is out of three-time Group 2 winner Hosannah (Octagonal), who is a producer of seven other winners including Group 2 victor Altar (Commands).

Continuing an exceptional start to his career at stud, O’ Ole became the second winner and second individual stakes-winner from just five to race for Vinery Stud’s Ole Kirk. Ole Kirk has 22 second crop yearlings catalogued at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2025.
