Oakleigh Plate winner Marabi to be offered at MM Virtual Sale

Prominent breeder Greg Perry will offer his Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m) winner Marabi (I Am Invincible) at next week’s Magic Millions Virtual Sale, her addition a major boost for the inaugural auction.

The star sprinter, who was trained by Ciaron Maher to win the 2022 feature Group 1 Caulfield sprint and two other stakes races, is due to have her maiden foal by Zoustar (Northern Meteor) in the coming weeks. 

A half-sister to VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) winner Aristia (Lonhro), who is also owned by Perry, Marabi will be offered by Vinery Stud at Tuesday’s virtual sale which also features the likes of Group-winning two-year-old Steel City (Merchant Navy), herself a half-sister to Group 1-winning sprinter September Run (Exceed And Excel).

Vinery Stud’s Adam White says it’s clear when you inspect Marabi why she was “such a fast mare”.

“She has great strength through the shoulder and hind quarter. Lovely short cannon bones and is correct in front. She has a lovely quality head on her with ample quality all over.” White said. 

“The mating to Zoustar is perfect for her and she should have a lovely first foal.”

Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said Marabi was one of the finest young pregnant mares to be offered to the market this year.

“She strung together seven outstanding wins in succession culminating in a brilliant victory in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate,” Bowditch said.

“Marabi is bred by an extraordinary breeder in Greg Perry – in addition to Marabi, he’s responsible for Group 1 winners Artorius, Atlantic Jewel and Commanding Jewel.”

The Virtual Sale will start at 2pm next Tuesday.
