Outrageous (AUS) 2 c All Too Hard – Fit And Ready by More Than Ready
Outrageous looks a very promising colt, following up his good late-closing second on his second start in a two-year-old plate at Rosehill on 27 January with a good win second-up this preparation at Newcastle on Sunday.
He again settled back in the field, this time under jockey Dwayne Dunn, and was last in the eight-horse field approaching the home turn after tracking a steady tempo in the 1300 metre race.
He moved up strongly, challenged at the 150 metres and came out on top in the sprint for home to win a shade cosily by a head from the Godolphin-raced Tin Hat (Helmet).
The colt is one of two named foals out of the winning More Than Ready (Southern Halo) mare Fit And Ready, making him a half-brother to last year’s Western Australia Oaks (Gr 3, 2400m) winner Very Tempting (Redoute’s Choice).
Fit And Ready is herself a half-sister to the 1999 Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner and Australian champion two-year-old Catbird (Danehill), as well as the Group Two winner Danbird (Danehill).
His second dam, Fitting (Marscay), won the Gimcrack Stakes (Listed, 1000m) and was placed at Group One level, while she is a sister to the Group Two winner Maizcay and the South African Grade Three winner Mzilikazi.
This is also the same family as Group Three winner Pillar Of Hercules (Rock Of Gibraltar) and stakes winner Centre Pivot (More Than Ready).
Outrageous’ Vinery Stud-based sire All Too Hard (Casino Prince) has 15 yearlings catalogued for next month’s Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, which begins its four-day run on 4 March.
