After resuming with a late-closing second in a 3YO Maiden (1100m) at Echuca on 27 October when having his third race start, Prezado stepped up quickly in class with an impressive win in the Flemington Fling (1000m) on Tuesday.
The son of Denman (Lonhro) broke well from barrier ten and was settled back in seventh place by jockey Chris Symons before putting in a strong run in the centre of the track from the 300 metre mark.
He gained the lead at the 100 metre mark and went on to score comfortably by just over a length, in the smart time of 56.92.
Purchased by Ellerton Zahra Racing and Group One Bloodstock for $50,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling sale from the Kornong Station draft, the gelding is out of the unraced Elvstroem (Danehill) mare Nerrin Twister making him a half-brother to two winners. Nerrin Twister herself is a half-sister to former Hong Kong Horse Of The Year and Group One winner Sacred Kingdom (Encosta De Lago).
Further back this is same family as Group Two winners Love Of Mary (Zeditave) and Jabali (Exceed And Excel).
In 2015 Nerrin Twister foaled a filly by Domesday (Red Ransom), before producing a filly by Darley shuttler Dawn Approach (New Approach) in 2015 and was not served in 2016.
Denman has sired eight stakes winners, headed by Group Three winner Fitocracy and he stands at Darley Kelvinside in New South Wales for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST).
