The Chris Waller-trained Private Life (Written Tycoon) could have potential Classic aspirations after the colt produced a dominant performance in a 1100-metre event at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.

Having run fourth on his debut at Canterbury on May 1, the son of Written Tycoon (Iglesia) hit the lead at the 100-metre mark and comfortably pulled clear to beat Shalaa Gold (Shalaa) by 1.4 lengths under a confident James McDonald ride.

“From an experience point of view, he [McDonald] put him there [behind the leader] and he always looked like he was travelling well, he pushed his way out and won like a good horse,” Waller said.

“It’s important for when you’re taking on better horses and that’s what he will be doing as a three-year-old.

“He will probably go out now, it’s getting a bit too late to get to Queensland, but I did want to give him two runs as a two-year-old for that exact reason – [for] experience and then to come back as a three-year-old, grow, develop and he should continue to improve.

“He could be a Guineas horse as a three-year-old.”

Private Life was purchased by Coolmore Australia principal Tom Magnier for $650,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He is the fifth winner from as many to race out of the Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) mare Aliyana Tilde, winner of the Epona Stakes (Gr 3, 1900m) and placed in the Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m), Sydney Cup (Gr 1, 3200m), and Vinery Stud Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m).

Purchased by Kerry Parker for $50,000 at the 2010 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Aliyana Tilde is a sister to Group 3 winner Teaspoon, and a half-sister to Smytzer’s Trish (Geiger Counter) and Listed winner Stella Artois (Geiger Counter). After missing in 2021 and 2022, Aliyana Tilde was covered by Admire Mars (Daiwa Major) last spring.
