The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Revolutionary Miss (Russian Revolution) was made $8 equal second-favourite for the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) after she scored an impressive victory in the Blue Diamond Prelude (F) (Gr 2, 1100m) at Caulfield last weekend.
A daughter of Russian Revolution (Snitzel), the two-year-old filly had finished runner-up at her first two starts, including a distant second in the Widden Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) on January 29, but she flew home on Saturday to win by three-quarters of a length over Blue Diamond Preview (F) (Gr 3, 1000m) scorer Miss Roseiano (Exceed And Excel).
Revolutionary Miss’s success also gave her dual Group 1-winning sire Russian Revolution (Snitzel) a first stakes scorer – and fourth individual winner – among his first crop, keeping him in the top five on the Australian two-year-old sires table and in pole position in the race to become Australia’s leading first-season sire by earnings.
“With two-year-olds it’s about how they cope with work and pressure of preparation,” Peter Snowden said post-race. “She’s one that just keeps thriving. She’s eating more, she’s getting stronger, she’s laughing whatever we do to her.
“She’s been in work for quite a while (but) I hadn’t had a lot of continuity with her – I was always stopping and starting trying to find the right races for her. To me she still wants a lot further, so that’s a great result today.”
Bred by China Horse Club, Revolutionary Miss was a $195,000 purchase at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Triple Crown Syndications.
She is the second stakes winner from as many to race out of New Zealand Listed-placed mare Purcentage (Onemorenomore), alongside last year’s Canberra Guineas (Listed, 1400m) winner Equation (Press Statement).
A brother to Revolutionary Miss sold at last month’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale to Danny O’Brien for $250,000, while Purcentage has been confirmed to be in foal to Waikato Stud’s multiple champion sire Savabeel (Zabeel).
