Rosemont joins forces with Magic Millions for online sale
Magic Millions’ push into the digital thoroughbred auction space has gained momentum with large Victorian farm Rosemont Stud calling on the company to help conduct an exclusive online sale comprising nearly 100 weanlings and broodmares.
The decision to embark on an online-only sale by Rosemont principal Anthony Mithen in partnership with Magic Millions comes just days after the auction house completed its first digital sale in conjunction with Cornerstone Stud.
Among the horses set to be offered are 39 weanlings by stallions including Exceed And Excel (Danehill), Zoustar (Northern Meteor), Written Tycoon (Iglesia), Russian Revolution (Snitzel) and Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible), as well as foals by Capitalist (Written Tycoon), So You Think (High Chaparral), Hellbent (I Am Invincible), Nicconi (Bianconi), Toronado (High Chaparral), Starcraft (Soviet Star) and Starspangledbanner (Choisir).
The broodmare consignment, featuring 12 stakes performers, includes Gold Rush (So You Think) who is in foal to Savabeel (Zabeel) and Split Lip (Your Song) who is in foal to Zoustar.
Mithen said Rosemont Stud had been working on the sale concept with Magic Millions for a number of months.
“We’ve been working together on this project since the beginning of the year,” Mithen said.
“We love the idea of a dynamic style online event with a condensed bidding period. Prospective buyers will get the chance to digest photos, videos and independent agent assessments.”
Bidding at the online auction will be open on May 25 and the countdown to the sale of each horse will start at 11am (AEST) on Tuesday, May 26.
“With all lots on the farm, we encourage those able to visit and inspect the stock to do so before they sell online. Make contact with a member of our team or Magic Millions to organise a time to visit,” Mithen said.
“We were impressed with how easy it was to use the platform during the recent Cornerstone Stud sale and we’re delighted to be able to offer such an attractive line up of weanlings and broodmares.”
The Rosemont Exclusive Sale continues Magic Millions’ bid to become a genuine online competitor to rival Inglis and its Inglis Digital platform, which is being used for Sunday’s Australian Broodmare Sale.
“Rosemont are leaders in their field and to be able to partner up to offer this quality line-up of horses is an honour,” Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch said.
“We look forward to releasing the catalogue late next week and then to what will be an action-packed period of bidding on May 25 and 26.”
Meanwhile, entries for the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Sale close today.
The weanling and broodmare sessions are slated to be held on the Gold Coast as a live auction between July 20 and 24 with the yearling session set to be held from July 28 to 30.
