Seas No Limit (NZ) 3 g Ocean Park – Boundless by Van Nistelrooy
Having just his second start, Seas No Limit finished strongly over the final 250 metres to score by three quarters of a length on a surface he did not particularly enjoy, according to his rider Linda Meech.
The three-year-old gelding sat back of midfield, one off the fence for most of the journey and appeared to be labouring at the 600 metre mark.
As the field entered the straight Meech pulled him four wide and once balanced he kept up a strong run, catching the new leader inside the 50 metre mark, before going away at the line to post a three quarters of a length victory in a winning time of 1:37.85.
Seas No Limit is out of Boundless (Van Nistelrooy), whose nine career wins included the New Zealand Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m), and she has produced three winners from her four foals race, including recent Hawke’s Bay Cup (Listed, 2200m) victor Richie McHorse (Redoute’s Choice) as well as Kadoma Man (Pins).
Boundless is a half-sister to three stakes–placed winners and is a granddaughter of Limitless (Sir Tristram), winner of 11 races including the Brisbane Cup (Gr 1, 3200m).
Boundless’ 2016 Savabeel (Zabeel) colt, offered by Trelawney Stud was knocked down to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $240,000 at Book 1 of New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2018 Karaka Sale and in 2017 she foaled a filly by Savabeel.
Ocean Jewel is the sole stakes winner for Ocean Park (Thorn Park) and he will stand for a fee of $30,000 (plus GST) at Waikato Stud this season.
