Shaken
TRAINER: James Cummings
RACE: ATC Thank You Trainers Handicap (1100m)
Godolphin homebred Shaken (I Am Invincible) will take the step up to metropolitan grade today when she tackles the ATC Thank You Trainers Handicap (1100m) at Randwick.
Having finished a hugely disappointing last of nine runners on her debut at Randwick-Kensington on February 3, the juvenile filly then reappeared after a break with a decisive two and three-quarter length victory over 1000 metres at Wyong on June 4.
“She had a blemish at Randwick when she drew wide and hung out. She was immature and doing things wrong, but James was patient with her, and she has progressed nicely this preparation,” Godolphin head trainer James Cummings’ assistant Darren Beadman said, following that success.
“It was a lovely ride by Zac [Lloyd] and once she found the fence it gave her confidence and she won with a lot of authority. She would not look out of place on the catwalk.”
The daughter of I Am Invincible will tackle the likes of Golden Gift (1100m) runner-up Infatuation, and once-raced winners Estriella, who is out of Pierro’s (Lonhro) sister Madrigals, and Sounds Of Heaven, with all three of those rivals being by the Yarraman Park stallion. Zac Lloyd will be onboard once again as the pair jump from barrier ten.
A half-sister to the stakes-placed winner Namazu (Medaglia d’Oro), Shaken is the fourth winner from as many to race out of the top-class Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare Earthquake.
Godolphin’s homebred mare was trained by Peter Snowden for wins in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m), Reisling Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m), and Blue Diamond Prelude (Gr 3, 1100m), before losing her unbeaten record when finishing second to to Mossfun (Mossman) in the 2014 Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m).
Earthquake has a filly by Darley’s first-season sire Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) named Trembles and a weanling colt by Frosted (Tapit). After seven consecutive foals, she missed to Brazen Beau (I Am Invincible) last spring.
