Siege Of Quebec was smartly away from barrier ten under Brenton Avdulla, who soon crossed the colt to the front. The son of Fastnet Rock (Danehill) travelled well, got a break on turning in and fought back really well when challenged to eventually score by half a length in a time of 1:13.62.
Purchased by Tom Magnier, Gai Waterhouse Racing, Nordic Racing and Breeding and Julian Blaxland at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in 2016 for $1,200,000 from the Newgate Farm draft, Siege Of Quebec is out of two-time-winning mare Rose Of Cimmaron (Bite The Bullet), making the colt a brother to Group Three winner Bull Point.
The colt is a three-quarters brother to Listed winner Amah Rock.
Rose Of Cimmaron herself is a sister to Group Three winner Mica’s Pride, the dam of multiple Group One winner Criterion (Sebring), Group winners Varenna Miss (Redoute’s Choice) and Comin’ Through (Fastnet Rock) and Listed winner Silently (Anabaa), who produced South African Grade Three winner Muwaary (O’Reilly).
Among the colts other relatives are Group Three winners Najoom (Northern Meteor) and Listed winners Moqueen (Uncle Mo), Malice (Teofilo), Upon This Rock (Fastnet Rock), Bhutane Dane (Danehill Dancer) and Gaze On (Intergaze).
In 2015 Rose Of Cimmaron produced a colt by Darley shuttler Exceed And Excel (Danehill) and missed to sire for the next two seasons.
