Maiden Of The Week

Sinjaree (AUS)

3 c O’Reilly – Hemem by Redoute’s Choice
O: Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum
T: Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes
B: Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Waikato
W: Moorookyle Park Maiden Plate, 1400m, Sandown Lakeside, 22 November

Sinjaree followed his debut second in a Pakenham maiden on 7 November with a narrow but promising win here.

He broke well from barrier three under Jason Winks and was settled back in fifth place, behind a solid tempo. As the field straightened up he began to make his move and challenged for the lead at the 100 metre mark.

After being pressed hard by Trent (Ocean Park) inside the closing stages, he fought best to come out on top in a photo finish, to eventually score by a short-head in a time of 1:24.36.

Sinjaree is the only winner of out of the three-time winning Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Hemem. Hemem herself is out of a half-sister to Group One winner St Clemens Belle (Don’t Say Halo), while further back this family of Listed winners Be My Princess (Chief’s Crown) and Flying Princess (Flying Spur).

In 2015 she foaled another colt by the late O’Reilly, who is now named Imbraator and in 2016 she missed to the Waikato Stud-based stallion Savabeel (Zabeel).

The mare has been most recently served by Waikato’s Stud’s stallion Sacred Falls (O’Reilly), whose oldest crop are yearlings and he has two yearlings cataloged at this year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, both offered as part of the Sledmere Stud draft.
