Smart As You Think put up a really good effort to win at her sixth race start and fourth this preparation, stepping up to 2040 metres. Away from barrier 11 in the 12-horse field, the daughter of So You Think (High Chaparral) settled back in eighth place. She then improved to be behind the leading group with 600 metres left to run before going widest at the home turn. In the straight she ran on to grab a narrow yet strong victory.

Stakes placed in the Anzac Day Stakes (Listed, 1400m) and the Morphettville Guineas (Listed, 1600m), Smart As You Think becomes the third winner from as many foals to race for her dam Satirical Lady (Giant’s Causeway). The Australian-bred daughter of Giant’s Causeway (Storm Cat) won over 1750 metres and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Satirical Boy (Fusaichi Pegasus) being out of the unraced Satirical (Rainbow Quest). Further back this is the family of Shania Dane (Danehill) and Scintillation (Danehill).

Satirical Lady was served again last month by So You Think. She slipped in 2015 and has a yearling filly by Camelot (Montjeu) while her two-year-old colt is named Le Drama (Excelebration).
