Blue Point (pictured above) – Rosallion (2 c ex Rosaline by New Approach) became the ninth individual winner for Darley shuttler Blue Point (Shamardal) when he made a successful debut in a six and a half furlong maiden at Newbury. A homebred for Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Rosallion is a half-brother to winner Needle Lace (Golden Horn) being the fourth foal out of the unraced New Approach (Galileo) mare Rosaline, herself a sister to Group 2 scorer Ostilio, closely related to Group 1 winner Ajman Princess (Teofilo) and Group 3 winner Triple Time (Frankel) and a half-sister to Group 3 winner Cape Byron (Shamardal). Thunder Blue (2 c ex Kodyanna by Kodiac) became the tenth individual winner from 39 starters for Blue Point when running out a comfortable scorer of a novice contest over six furlongs at Goodwood. A £180,000 breeze-up buy, Thunder Blue is the second foal out of the Group-placed winner Kodyanna (Kodiac), herself a half-sister to the Listed-winning pair Logo Hunter (Brazen Beau) and Darkanna (Dark Angel). Blue Point will again shuttle to Northwood Park where he will stand for a fee of AU$44,000 (inc GST) this season.
Embellish – Whiskey Lies (2 c ex Champagne Katie by Darci Brahma) became the third individual winner from ten starters for Cambridge Stud stallion Embellish (Savabeel) when he broke his maiden at Ruakaka. Out of the winning Darci Brahma (Danehill) mare Champagne Katie, Whiskey Lies is a half-brother to winners Bubbles Await (Almanzor) and Madame Moet (Iffraaj). Embellish will stand the 2023 breeding season for a fee of NZ$5,000 (plus GST).
Harry Angel – Cherokee Dancer (2 f ex Bint Cherokee by O’Reilly) became the seventh southern hemisphere winner from 19 runners for Darley shuttler Harry Angel (Dark Angel) when landing the odds in a 1009-metre maiden on the Devonport Tapeta. A $26,000 purchase out of the Riverina Downs draft at last year’s Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Cherokee Dancer is out of the winning O’Reilly (Last Tycoon) mare Bint Cherokee. Harry Angel shuttles to Kelvinside Stud where he will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of $33,000 (inc GST).
Jungle Cat – Tiger Town (2 g ex Gentle Spirit by Break The Vault) became the second southern hemisphere winner from five starters for Jungle Cat (Iffraaj) when making a successful debut in a handicap over 1262 metres at Taree. Bought for $70,000 at Book 2 of last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Tiger Town became the fourth winner from six foals to race out of the Break The Vault (Redoute’s Choice) mare Gentle Spirit who herself is a half-sister to Group 1 winners Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) and Temple Of Boom (Piccolo). Queensland-based Telemon Thoroughbreds’ Jungle Cat will stand for a fee of $8,800 (inc GST) in 2023.
The Autumn Sun – Ashfall (2 c ex Heart Ashley by Lion Heart) became the third individual winner from 20 starters for The Autumn Sun (Redoute’s Choice) when getting off the mark at the second time of asking in a maiden over 1400 metres at Hawkesbury. Retained by Kia Ora after failing to meet his reserve at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Ashfall is out of the dual US Grade 3 winner Heart Ashley (Lion Heart). The Autumn Sun will stand the upcoming breeding season at Arrowfield Stud for an unchanged fee of $66,000 (inc GST).
Too Darn Hot – Son (2 c ex Mia Diletta by Selkirk) became the second winner for Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) when scoring at Newbury. Purchased for 90,000gns at the 2021 Tattersalls December Foal Sale, Son is closely related to Italian 2,000 Guineas (Gr 3, 1600m) winner Poeta Diletto (Poet’s Voice) and a half-brother to four winners, including Wishaah (Oasis Dream) and Cape Palace (Golden Horn), being out of the Listed-winning mare Mia Diletta (Selkirk). Too Darn Hot, who has now had nine starters, will stand the 2023 southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley’s Kelvinside Stud for $44,000 (inc GST).
New Group / Grade 1 winners
American Pharoah – Former Coolmore Stud shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) was provided with his seventh top-flight winner when Marketsegmentation (4 f ex Lonelily by Medaglia D’Oro) took out the New York Stakes (Gr 1, 10f) at Belmont Park. Purchased for US$200,000 at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale in 2019, Marketsegmentation is one of two winners out of placed Medaglia D’Oro (El Prado) mare Lonelily and hails from the same family as dual Group 1 winner and successful sire Fasliyev (Nureyev). American Pharoah, who has had 591 runners, shuttled to Coolmore’s Australia base for five seasons, but did not return in 2022. The stallion stands at the operation’s Ashford Stud base in Kentucky for a fee of US$60,000 (approx. AU$89,000).
Arrogate – Arcangelo (3 c ex Modeling by Tapit) became the fifth individual elite-level winner for Arrogate (Unbridled’s Song) when he landed the feature Belmont Stakes (Gr 1, 12f). Out of the unraced Tapit (Pulpit) mare Modeling, Arcangelo is a half-brother to winner Montmartre (Distorted Humor). Arrogate, who has now had 141 starters, died in 2020.
Justify – Coolmore’s shuttle stallion Justify (Scat Daddy) sired his maiden top-level winner when Arabian Lion (3 c ex Unbound by Distorted Humor) landed the Woody Stephens Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) at Belmont Park. Arabian Lion is a half-brother to three winners including Malibu Star (Giant’s Causeway) being the fifth foal out of the stakes-placed winning Distorted Humor (Forty Niner) mare Unbound. Justify, who has now had 130 starters, will return to Jerry Plains for the 2023 breeding season at a fee of AU$77,000 (inc GST).
Kingman – In winning the JJ Atkins Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) at Eagle Farm, King Colorado (2 c ex More Aspen by More Than Ready) became the seventh individual Group 1 winner, and first in Australia, for the Juddmonte Farm stallion Kingman (Invincible Spirit). King Colorado is the first foal born in Australia for the stakes-winning More Than Ready (Southern Halo) mare More Aspen, a half-sister to stakes winner Jade Master (Master Command). Kingman, who has had 545 starters, stands at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor base in Newmarket for a fee of £125,000 (approx. AU$232,340).

Capitalist – King Kapa (4 g ex Emmalene by Jet Spur) became the 14th individual stakes winner from 298 starters for Newgate Farm stallion Capitalist (Written Tycoon) when he won the Mark Hinkler Handicap (Listed, 1200m) at Eagle Farm. Bred by Belinda Bateman, King Kapa is a half-brother to stakes-placed winner Churning (Lonhro) being the third foal out of the stakes-winning Jet Spur (Flying Spur) mare Emmalene. Capitalist will stand the upcoming breeding season for a fee of $77,000 (inc GST).
Epiphaneia – Justin Cafe (5 h ex Casino Boogie by Workforce) became the ninth individual stakes winner for Epiphaneia (Symboli Kris S) when he landed the Epsom Cup (Gr 3, 1800m) at Tokyo. Justin Cafe is the first foal out of the winning Workforce (King’s Best) mare Casino Boogie making him a half-brother to winner Make The Beat (Mind Your Biscuits). Epiphaneia, who has now had 545 starters, stands at Shadai Stallion Station for a fee of ¥18,000,000 (approx. AU$191,640).
Exosphere – Spacewalk (3 g ex Benenden by Dubawi) provided Oaklands Stud-based stallion Exosphere (Lonhro) with a fifth individual stakes winner from 184 starters when landing the Bob Charley AO Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Randwick. A homebred for Godolphin, Spacewalk is out of the winning Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) mare Benenden making him a half-brother to 11-time winner Hemsted (Exceed And Excel). Exosphere will stand the 2023 breeding season for a fee of $4,950 (inc GST).
Frankel – Left Sea (3 f ex Left Hand by Dubawi) handed Juddmonte Farms stallion Frankel (Galileo) with a 120th individual stakes with a comfortable success in yesterday’s Prix Melisande (Listed, 2000m) at Longchamp. A sister to winner Gaucher, Left Sea is bred in the purple being the second foal out of the Group 1-winning Dubawi mare Left Hand, herself a half-sister to Listed winner Bilissie (Dansili) and the Group-placed winner Romanciere (Dansili). Al Asifah (3 f ex Aneen by Lawman) produced an impressive performance to easily score in the Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes (Listed, 1m 2f) at Goodwood, providing Frankel with his 121st individual stakes winner. Al Asifah is the second foal out of the Listed-placed winning Lawman (Invincible Spirit) mare Aneen, herself a half-sister to Group 1 winner Awtaad (Cape Cross), Listed winner Mehnah (Frankel) and stakes-placed winners Al Zaraqaan (Golden Horn) and Alghabrah (Tamayuz). Frankel, who has now had 716 starters, stands at Banstead Manor Stud for a fee of £275,000 (approx. AU$512,890).
Galileo – The late Galileo’s (Sadler’s Wells) tally of stakes winners moved on to 365 courtesy of a win by Tower Of London (3 c ex Dialafara by Anabaa) in the King George V Cup (Listed, 1m 4f) at Leopardstown. Tower Of London is the ninth foal out of the winning Anabaa (Danzig) mare Dialafara, making him a brother to six winners, including Irish Derby (Gr 1, 1m 4f) winner Capri. Galileo has no had 2,466 starters.
Harry Angel – Cadeau Belle (3 f ex Special Gift by New Approach) landed the Kooyonga Stakes (Listed, 1m) at Navan, becoming stakes winner number eight for Darley shuttler Harry Angel. Out of the unraced New Approach (Galileo) mare Special Gift, herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Do The Honours (Highest Honor), Cadeau Belle is a half-sister to dual Australian winner Global Gift (Invincible Spirit), as well as winners Star Of India (Muhaarar) and Licorne (Siyouni).
Lope De Vega – Moon De Vega (4 f ex Lunesque by Azamour) became the 111th individual stakes winner for Lope De Vega (Shamardal) when she got up late to snatch victory in the Glencairn Stakes (Listed, 1m 1f) at Leopardstown. Moon De Vega, who was bought for 98,000gns earlier this year, is the third foal out of the winning Azamour (Night Shift) mare Lunesque, herself a half-sister to the dual Group 3 winner Celimene (Dr Fong). Lope De Vega, who has now had 1,145 starters, stands at Ballylinch Stud for a fee of €125,000 (approx. AU$200,360).
Lord Kanaloa – Kimiwa Queen (4 f ex Cherry Petals by Daiwa Major) provided Shadai Stallion Station’s Lord Kanaloa (King Kamehameha) with a 42nd individual stakes winner when scoring in the Hakodate Sprint Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m). Kimiwa Queen is out of the winning Daiwa Major (Sunday Silence) mare Cherry Petals making her a sister to winners En El Viento and Waiau. Lord Kanaloa, who has now had 1,019 starters, stands for a fee of ¥12,000,000 (approx. AU$127,760).
Maurice – Namesake (2 c ex Banksia by Redoute’s Choice) provided Arrowfield Stud’s Maurice with a 15th individual stakes winner from 552 starters when he landed the Oxlade Stakes (Listed, 1300m) at Eagle Farm. A $100,000 purchase from the Arrowfield Stud draft at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Namesake is the second foal and second winner out of the Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) mare Banksia, making him a brother to Alister Clark Stakes (Gr 2, 2040m) winner Bank Maur. Maurice will stand the 2023 breeding season for an unchanged fee of $82,500 (inc GST).
Protectionist – Lotterbov (4 c ex Lutindi by Adlerflug) became the third individual stakes winner for Protectionist (Monsun) when landing the Steher Cup (Listed, 3000m) at Cologne. A half-brother to the stakes-placed winners Lubiane (Authorized) and Leona Playa (Footstepsinthesand), Lotterbov is out of the winning Adlerflug (In The Wings) mare Lutindi, herself a half-sister to Group 3 winner Lindenthaler (Azamour). Protectionist, who has now had 69 starters, stands at Gestut Rottgen for a fee of €6,500 (approx. AU$10,370).
Redoute’s Choice – Rediener (3 g ex Wiener by More Than Ready) provided his late sire Redoute’s Choice with a 182nd individual stakes winner from 1,554 starters when landing the Gunsynd Classic (Gr 3, 1600m) at Eagle Farm. Rediener is a brother to the stakes-placed winner Redoutable Heart, while he also counts Listed scorer Rathlin (Fastnet Rock) and stakes-placed winner Za Zi Ba (All Too Hard) among his half-siblings. His dam, Weiner (More Than Ready), is a half-sister to Arrowfield Stud’s multiple champion sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice) and also to successful stallion Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) and Group 3 winner Viennese (Redoute’s Choice). Redoute’s Choice died in 2019.
Redwood – Antino (4 g ex Mahamaya by Bahhare) scorched clear to land Eagle Farm’s Wayne Wilson (Listed, 1600m) and provide his Westbury Stud-based sire Redwood (High Chaparral) with a 13th individual stakes winner from 311 starters. Bred by Blossom Trading & Breeding Company Ltd, Antino was bought for NZ$27,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale in 2020. The gelding is out of the Bahhare (Woodman) mare Mahamaya, a sister to Group 1 scorer Hurrah and to stakes winner and Group 1 placegetter Best Gift. Redwood will stand the 2023 breeding season for a fee of NZ$10,000 (plus GST).
Sea The Moon – Selenaia (3 f ex Dettoria by Declaration Of War) provided Sea The Moon (Sea The Stars) with a 29th individual stakes winner when comfortably landing the Honeymoon Stakes (Gr 3, 9f) at Santa Anita. Selenaia is the first foal out of the unraced Declaration Of War (War Front) mare Dettoria, herself a half-sister to stakes winners Lady Of Kyushu (Smart Strike) and Clint Maroon (Oasis Dream) and to the Listed-placed winner Star Fortress (Sea The Stars). Tasleet – American Sonja (3 f ex Gumhrear by Kodiac) provided Tasleet (Showcasing) with a second individual stakes winner when landing the Prix Volterra (Listed, 1600m) at Longchamp. The third foal out of the Kodiac (Danehill) mare Gumhrear, American Sonja is a half-sister to winner Kodi Dream (Coach House). Tasleet, who has now had 62 starters, stands at Nunnery Stud for a fee of £6,000 (approx. AU$11,255).
Territories – Regional (5 g ex Favulusa by Dansili) provided Territories (Invincible Spirit) with a tenth individual stakes winner when landing the Achilles Stakes (Listed, 5f) at Haydock. Regional is the second foal out of the Listed-winning Dansili (Danehill) mare Favulusa, herself a half-sister to Italian Oaks (Gr 2, 2200m) winner Folega (Oasis Dream) and Listed winner Fa Ul Sciur (Farhh). Ulysses – Peripatetic (4 f ex Dublino by Lear Fan) gained a deserved first stakes win in yesterday’s Tapster Stakes (Listed, 1m 4f) at Goodwood and in the process provided Ulysses (Galileo) with a fifth individual stakes winner. The fifth foal out of the Del Mar Oaks (Gr 1, 9f)-winning mare Dublino (Lear Fan), Peripatetic is closely related to winners Woody Bay (New Approach), Inference (Intello) and Unanswered (Intello) while also being a half-sister to Listed scorer Answered (Authorized). Ulysses, who has now had 118 starters, stands at Cheveley Park Stud for a fee of £10,000 (approx. AU$18,650).
Zarak – Straight (3 c ex Seductive by Henrythenavigator) provided Zarak (Dubawi) with a 12th individual stakes winner when landing the Union-Rennen (Gr 2, 2200m) at Cologne. Straight is the only winner from five foals to come out of the winning Henrythenavigator (Kingmambo) mare Seductive. Zarak, who has now had 116 starters, stands at Haras de Bonneval for a fee of €60,000 (approx. AU$95,740) and will be available for covers to southern hemisphere time this year.
