The Autumn Sun (AUS) 2 c Redoute’s Choice – Azmiyna by Galileo
The Autumn Sun impressed in winning on debut. He settled back in eighth place, behind a good pace before improving wide with cover nearing the 600 metre mark.
He fanned deep on straightening, dashed to the front at the 100 metre mark and then went on to score easily by one and a half lengths in a winning time of 1:08.61. He looks a colt with a bright future and looks likely to be suited to further. Click here to watch the race replay.
The Autumn Sun is out of Azmiyna (Galileo), a half-sister to Group One winner and late sire Azamour (Night Shift), while her other half-sibling is Group Two winner Arazan (Anabaa) and they are all out of the Listed-winning mare Asmara (Lear Fan)
Further back the colt’s third dam is Anazaa (Darshaan), who produced Prix Ganay (Gr 1, 2100m) winner Astarabad (Alleged) and a further nine winners.
Waller reinvested in the family at this year’s Inglis Easter Australian Yearling Sale, teaming up with his bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster to take home a filly by Redoute’s Choice’s son and barnmate Snitzel for $1,300,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft.
In 2017 Azmiyna foaled a colt by another son of Arrowfield’s perennial sire in Not A Single Doubt and has most recently been covered again by Snitzel.
