Tiz Invincible

TRAINER: Ciaron Maher and David Eustace

RACE: Furious Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m)

Having shown plenty of promise in a pair of Group-race events as a juvenile last season, the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Tiz Invincible (I Am Invincible) broke her maiden in style when landing The Rosebud (Listed, 1100m) at Rosehill earlier this month and will now bid to build on that success in today’s Furious Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick.

The daughter of champion sire I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) finished fourth in the Black Opal Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) on debut before then improving on that effort with a second placing behind Kristilli (Hellbent) in the Percy Sykes Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) on April 8.

Returning as a three-year-old following two promising trial displays, the filly edged out the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Introducing (Trapeze Artist) in last month’s Listed contest, scoring by a head in determined fashion.

“You don’t often break your maiden in stakes races, especially in the field like that,” Ciaron Maher said after the race. “She has always been a quality filly and has a huge pedigree.

“She was a little slow to begin, but I didn’t mind. In the mid stages, she got up on the bridle, and I thought, being a bit soft, she might feel that late, but her quality kicked in.

“She is a proper racehorse – the way she had to push out and make her own luck and still knuckle down.”

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Tiz Invincible was a $550,000 purchase for Bahen Bloodstock, Ciaron Maher Racing, Eric Lucas and Astute Bloodstock from the Segenhoe Stud draft at last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

She is the second foal out of the New Approach (Galileo) mare Amuletum, herself a half-sister to nine-time Group 1 winner Anamoe being out of the SAJC Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Anamato (Redoute’s Choice).
