Too Darn Lizzie entered in the Inglis Chairman’s Sale

Group 2-winning three-year-old Too Darn Lizzie (Too Darn Hot) is the latest addition to an already stellar cast for the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in May.

A $1,000,000 yearling from the first Australian crop of sire sensation Too Darn Hot (Dubawi), the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained filly demonstrated her ability as a two-year-old with an effortless debut win in the $500,000 Magic Millions The Debut 2YO Fillies (1000m) last January before finishing a narrow third in the Reisling Stakes (Gr 2, 1200m) at Randwick two months later.

She has mixed it with the very best company across eight runs this season, the highlight of which has been an impressive all-the-way victory in the Thousand Guineas Prelude (Gr 2, 1400m) at Caulfield before a game third in the Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) itself.

Her three runs in the autumn have seen her show class and consistency, placing in each of the Angus Armanasco Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m), Kewney Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m), and most recently the Alexandra Stakes (Gr 3, 1600m) at The Valley last Saturday.

Too Darn Lizzie will be consigned as a racing and breeding prospect by Yarraman Park Stud, with the Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2000m) at Morphettville on April 26 her next bigrace target.

“Too Darn Lizzie has been a very obvious talent right from the outset,” her co-trainer Bott said. “She’s a lovely physical and has shown both speed and precocity, as well as the ability to train on through her Classic season, which is a very rare blend.

“Her form has been remarkably consistent throughout her career at the elite level and importantly she will get her chance to add a Group 1 victory to her resume at Morphettville next month.

“She is still lightly raced and looks to have plenty of upside in her future racing career.”

Too Darn Lizzie races in the famous silks of Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber, whose racing manager Simon Marsh described the chance to buy her as “an extraordinary opportunity”.

“We bought her with the goal of securing the best Too Darn Hot filly from his first crop, supporting and promoting the stallion,” said Marsh. “Never did we imagine she would perform at such an elite level, consistently excelling as a two and three-year-old.

“The decision to sell has been incredibly difficult, but as a commercial breeding operation, reinvesting in mares to support Too Darn Hot makes sense.

“Whoever secures her will have an extraordinary opportunity – she still has a big race in her, and long-term, she’s destined to be an outstanding broodmare, just like her dam.”

Too Darn Lizzie is a daughter of Group 2-winning juvenile and Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) runner-up Enbihaar (Magnus), who will also take her place in the Chairman’s Sale, while a fullbrother to Too Darn Lizzie will be offered at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale (May 5-6) by Widden Stud.

“Among a host of stars, Too Darn Lizzie is another special offering for the sale,” Inglis Bloodstock sales manager Harry Bailey said. “She has raced exclusively in stakes company since her debut and has been competitive with the best fillies including Aeliana and Treasurethe Moment.

“The programme for her in Australia as a four-year-old is incredibly appealing, with the likes of the $10 million Golden Eagle an obvious target.

“We are incredibly grateful to Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber for the opportunity to bring her to market on what is going to be a spectacular night of selling.”

As well as her dam, Too Darn Lizzie joins the likes of champion mare Bella Nipotina (Pride Of Dubai), Group 2-winning I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) mares I Am Me, Estriella and Tiz Invincible, recent Group 2 winner Grinzinger Belle (Shamexpress), Group 1 winner Royal Merchant (Merchant Navy), Group 3 scorer Semana (Winning Rupert), and top broodmares Calaverite (Lonhro) and Whatalovelyday (Domesday) among the confirmed entries into the Chairman’s Sale.

The Chairman’s Sale will be held at Riverside on the evening of Thursday May 8.
