Maiden Of The Week

Zoustyle (AUS) 2 c Zoustar – Fashion by Anabaa

A 12 length trial win on the synthetic surface at Eagle Farm earlier in the month suggested that Zoustyle (Zoustar) would be the runner to beat at Doomben and that proved to be case on Wednesday.

He was quickest away from barrier two and ridden to lead but was given no peace in front, holding a half length lead to the top of the straight.

At the 300 metre mark rider Brad Stewart released the brakes and the colt shot clear, led by seven lengths with 100 metres left to travel where Stewart eased him down, but he was still able to post an impressive five-length victory in a time of 1:03.45.

His stakes-placed dam Fashion (Anabaa), bred and raced in Germany, won over 1400 metres as a two-year-old and has produced two winners from as many runners. Her first winner, Faustine (Snitzel), having her fifth start, took out a maiden at Port Macquarie just one day prior to Zoustyle’s excellent win.

Fashion is a half-sister to dual stakes winner Felicity (Inchinor), dam of two stakes winners including Felician (Motivator), rated the champion older miler of 2013 in Germany and whose seven wins included the Krefeld Meilen Trophy (Gr 2, 1600m).

Fashion’s dam, Felina (Acatenango) is a stakes-winning sister to Freccia D’Oro, also a stakes winner and dam of joint champion Italian three-year-old Lord Chaparral (High Chaparral).

Fashion missed in 2016 and foaled a filly by Coolmore’s Choisir (Danehill Dancer) in 2017 and was most recently covered by Widden Stud’s Sebring (More Than Ready).
